Confusion with the use of the name Mimosa for Australian Acacias

Click on a blue hyperlink of interest.

The plants now described as being species in the genus Acacia were often erroneously described as Mimosa plants by early explorers such as Matthew Flinders.

The true Mimosa plants are not indigenous to Australia, and are a pest plant here.
